The Gospel is alive on the streets of Bangkok. For Peter and Patricia DeWit, ministry sometimes looks like eye contact and a warm embrace in Patpong, a notorious red-light district, where friends once trapped in darkness are becoming the radiant Bride of Christ.
Other times, it’s serving a completely different demographic. God is also at work among Afghan refugee families. What began as a small English class for women has grown into a thriving community of over twenty children, eager to learn. With the help of an Afghan teacher and the partnership of LifeRaft International, a vision is growing for a dedicated refugee school, though space and funding remain real challenges. Over 20 women and 20 kids attend the program.
One student, Nasima, who once didn’t know any English and was struggling, recently read aloud with confidence: “This is a brown cow.” That simple sentence moved Patricia to tears.
As Christmas approaches, the DeWits are preparing a special celebration, along with Matt and Amber Price for the refugees sharing Afghan food, friendship, and the hope of Jesus.
