India’s complexity is alive in every corner of India’s one-time capital city, Kolkata. Wealth glimmers beside extreme poverty. Many languages and thousands of ethnic groups co-exist while the caste system still shapes who eats, works and survives. Many children have no family and sleep along railway tracks. Others from the low caste scour the garbage dump to survive.
Kolkata is dedicated to the worship of the Goddess Kali - and you can tangibly feel the darkness and spiritual warfare while you are there.Yet amid this packed metropolitan area, Pentecostal churches grow and young adults are trained at Buntain Theological College. This long-time partner of PAOC and its founders, Mark and Hilda Buntain, have been training Pentecostal leaders since 1986, and receive Timothy Fund Scholarships annually.
Let this short video shed light on how to pray for Kolkata.
PRAY for the children on Kolkata streets and railway stations, that Jesus would protect them, provide for their needs, and reveal His love to them in ways that bring true hope and belonging.
PRAY that followers of Jesus here would boldly live out His love, acting as hands and feet in homes, schools, and marketplaces, reflecting the Kingdom in tangible ways.
PRAY the Lord empowers students, staff and alumni of Buntain Theological College with a strong understanding of Scripture, gifts of healing and other power ministries so they will be used to transform millions of lives in their city.
