Seeing Special Needs Children Thrive in Malawi

Seeing Special Needs Children Thrive in Malawi

PAOC global workers, Steve & Kathy Bowler, facilitate ministry to some of the most vulnerable in Malawi. Kathy serves as the director of Children of Blessing Trust (COBT) and Steve directs Fountain of Life, a facility that operates a safe house for survivors of sexual assault. Here’s how you can pray for them.

COBT provides Rehabilitation services (Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech Therapy), Preschool and Special Education, Nutrition Program, Epilepsy Clinics and Specialized Equipment to 1200 children.  Our multidisciplinary team works at our main centre in Lilongwe and travels to 11 outreach clinics each week to reach children living up to 40 km away.

It’s a joy to see our children sit or walk independently for the first time. For nearby students, Wednesday kids club is a highlight, gathering for scripture, games, and fellowship.

Pierre , profoundly deaf, excelled in primary school through ERDO sponsorship. After struggling in secondary school without deaf-support teachers, he completed vocational training.  He is now a welder and is working full time.

Kalif, once malnourished and unable to walk or feed himself, gained strength through our clinics, rehab, preschool, and nutrition support. Now healthy, he walks proudly to his community preschool on his own.

Destin, started attending therapy and preschool at one of our Outreach Clinics. When he started attending last year, he was not crawling.  Now he walks independently with his walking frame.

PRAY for sustainable funding to continue providing these children with special needs with trained professional care.

PRAY that each child would be supported to reach their full potential - physically, socially and spiritually.

PRAY for healing for those recovering from sexual trauma.
