Giving Thanks for Those Who Go

Giving Thanks for Those Who Go

Thanksgiving is a season of gratitude, family and celebration. But for many global workers serving far from Canada, holidays can also bring a heightened sense of distance from family, friends and familiar traditions.

Yet Thanksgiving can also create a unique opportunity. In places where there may be little knowledge of God, global workers can use this season to share why they are thankful and point others toward the goodness and faithfulness of the Father.

This Thanksgiving, let’s give thanks not only for what God has given us, but for those who have given themselves to His mission, serving in challenging places so that “the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the LORD” (Habakkuk 2:14).

You may even want to include this as a prayer moment around your family table, or as an opportunity to send a note to a global worker letting them know you are thankful for and praying for them.

PRAY for global workers who may feel the distance from family and loved ones more deeply during Thanksgiving and other holidays. Ask God to surround them with encouragement, friendship and a strong sense of His presence.

PRAY for creative opportunities to turn Thanksgiving conversations and celebrations into meaningful moments that point people toward God’s goodness and faithfulness.

PRAY that these encounters would bear lasting fruit, drawing people into relationship with their loving Father—especially among the least reached and most vulnerable.
