In 1991, only about 1.7% of Ethiopians called themselves followers of Jesus—less than a million people in the whole country of 60 million. Now, more than 20% of the nation are followers of Jesus. As the nation’s capital and home to the African Union headquarters, it’s where decisions are made for the nation & continent that shape policy for schools, medical facilities, poverty reduction, creation care and more. The city is filled with businesses, cafes, universities, and factories that supply the country and much of East Africa. Young people are found in every corner pursuing sport, entertainment, faith, and friends.
Churches are full, worship rises from most neighbourhoods, and the move of God has touched many remote villages.
PRAISE GOD for the remarkable increase of believers in Ethiopia and for the revival that continues to touch every corner of the nation. Pray for movement growth across the many languages spoken within the city of Addis Ababa.
PRAY that Ethiopia will continue as a sending nation, equipped and empowered to bring the Gospel to unreached tribes within its borders, to neighboring countries and nations beyond.
