After the Soviet Union collapsed, many Kyrgyz sought spiritual meaning, and God opened doors for the gospel. Global workers introduced many to Christ in the early 1990s, and some believers still faithfully serve their churches today despite pressure from relatives, friends, and neighbours who see them as abandoning ancestral faith.
Many new believers need deeper discipleship, biblical teaching, mentoring, unity, and community support as they face stigma and opposition. Pray for protection, discernment, boldness, and the development of Kyrgyz leaders who can shepherd churches, ministries, and outreach with wisdom and courage. PRAY for unity and solidarity within the Kyrgyz Christian community.
PRAY for increased access to Bible resources and discipleship material so the church can grow in depth with a strong foundation.
PRAY that Kyrgyz believers would stand firm. Recently Kyrgyz Christians have faced opposition from Muslims, but with a new twist. Their new strategy is not to persecute Christians, but win them back to Islam through kindness, compassion, sympathy, and shame.
