Louise Charbonneau reports that even amid Haiti’s ongoing instability, there are encouraging signs of God at work. At the end of the summer, 700 children attended VBS, including many first-time participants. The new school year has also begun with more than 730 students from kindergarten through Grade 13. Through ChildCARE Plus, 580 children are currently sponsored, with approximately 50 more waiting for sponsorship.
At the same time, Haiti continues to face a devastating security and humanitarian crisis. More than 1,000 military personnel and police officers have been deployed as a “Gang Suppression Force”, with additional personnel expected. Armed groups remain active, transportation continues to be severely disrupted, and an estimated 1.47 million people have been displaced. However, in the area around the church and ChildCARE Plus school, everything is operating normally, praise God!
PRAY that armed groups will surrender, violence will end, and communities will once again become safe places for families and children.
PRAY for a movement of repentance across Haiti and that many will turn to God, finding hope and healing in Christ.
PRAY for the 1.47 million people displaced by the violence, that they will find safe shelter, meaningful work, sufficient food, and the practical support they desperately need.
