Three months ago, severe flooding overwhelmed Hat Yai after 1,390 mm of rain fell in just eight days, impacting nearly 70–80% of the city under 1-4 metres of water. Communication systems failed for days, tap water didn’t flow for two weeks and many families were left uncertain about loved ones trapped in the floods.
Today, the floodwaters are gone—but the work of recovery continues. The physical cleanup has largely been completed, yet many households and businesses are still restoring what was lost: furniture, appliances, school materials, income stability, and a sense of normalcy. Emotional recovery often lags behind visible repairs.
Through partnerships with ERDO, Canadian churches, a Thai hotel, and an international church in Bangkok, practical relief was provided. Cleaning kits, relief bags, hot meals, and essential school supplies—including new uniforms—helped families and students begin recovering, and vulnerable individuals received basic household items to restart daily life.
As Christmas approached, small gatherings and student events became powerful reminders of hope, strengthening relationships and reassuring students they weren’t forgotten.
Now, three months later, the work has shifted from emergency response to long‑term rebuilding. Local leaders continue walking with affected families, offering practical help, encouragement, and connection—because while the crisis is no longer in the headlines, the need remains urgent.
