This March, we invite you to pray for the Gujjar people of Kashmir, a nomadic, Sunni Muslim community of over one million living along the ridges and valleys of the Himalayas. Known for herding sheep that produce prized cashmere wool, the Gujjar face economic vulnerability and spiritual darkness. There are currently no known believers among them, and no Bible available in their Gujjar language.
Pray that God would send workers to learn their language and culture, building lasting relationships among these constantly moving communities. Ask the Lord to provide sustainable and ethical markets for their wool so families can flourish independently. Pray for courage and protection for Christian workers serving in this highly sensitive region, and for favour with government officials.
As well, lift up Bible translators labouring to bring Scripture to the Gujjar for the first time. Pray Psalm 119:18 over them: “Open their eyes that they may see wonderful truths in Your instructions.”
May March be a month of breakthrough for the Gujjar!
