Seeking First Fruit Among the Gujjar

Seeking First Fruit Among the Gujjar

The Gujjar are a nomadic people who move with the seasons along the ridges and valleys of the Himalayan Mountains in northern India. At night, their campfires light the roads of the Kashmir Valley as families gather, tend sheep, and preserve a way of life passed down for generations. Their herds provide the prized wool used in Cashmere textiles, and their distinct Gujjar language sets them apart from surrounding communities. Yet today, the Gujjar remain without known followers of Jesus.

God is stirring vision for what could be. Opportunities through Business for Transformation, especially textile production and renewed tourism, open doors for relationship, trust, and gospel witness. The Gujjar’s deep knowledge of the Himalayas positions them to host travelers, creating natural spaces for friendship and spiritual conversations. We long to see workers sent, seeds planted, and hearts opened to the love of Christ among this beautiful and resilient people.

PRAY for workers to learn the Gujjar language and culture and share Jesus faithfully

PRAY for provision and flourishing, healthy herds, strong families, and openness to God’s love

PRAY for vision and favor in tourism and business, and for gospel seeds to bear lasting fruit
