Due to the genocide that happened in the late 1970s, Cambodia has a national age of 26 years old. This is why we choose to minister to especially children and young adults. Moreover, education is often lacking, while safe housing for university students is almost non-existent.
I (Ian) am the director of the Global Student Centre that sees over 400 students walk through its doors for various programming each week, led by its 37 student leaders. We also have 200 students stay on our dorm. I spend my time meeting new students and pouring into their lives so that Christ can be known. Our team organizes and leads discipleship programing that includes off and on-campus small groups, the Alpha program, classes in English, and church planting in their villages on the weekends.
I (Tiffanie) am the director of our ChildCARE Plus program that ministers to over 650 children in 15 communities. I’ve personally sponsored children since I was 17 and have first-hand experience here that sponsorship works. I lead our incredible staff of 15 and am humbled to see how our programs of educational support, community development, and access to the transforming gospel can change the trajectory of a child and their family.
Our family arrived in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, in 2012, after our pastoring in Newfoundland for three years. This “overseas life” is all our girls, Emilyn (2010) and Sophia (2012) know. Originally, I (Ian) felt called to teach at the Bible school and has now transitioned to university ministry. I (Tiffanie) began facilitating ChildCARE Plus and other ERDO programing in Cambodia, watching the program grow from 63 children to over 600 today!
