Sex trafficking of women and children within the Philippines remains a significant problem. In 2023, the government reported over 740 sex trafficked victims and over 500 of the victims being women and children.
In response to this issue, I (Ishani) will work alongside the staff of Wipe Every Tear, a non-profit organization that assists young women who have escaped sex trafficking. I will lead a one-year program for the organization’s “safe home,” where I will mentor and teach these young women life skills and vocational training. I will also encourage them in their relationship with the Lord.
I (Peter) will provide spiritual guidance to the organization’s staff and young women, as well as design comprehensive security protocols tailored to the specific needs of trafficked women. I will also implement these security measures for the “safe home” and the new facility that will accommodate up to 100 girls.
We have both served in ministry, in diverse contexts, over many years. I (Ishani) have been involved in missions since 2002, founding a school in the Dominican Republic for underprivileged children. I have also worked as a project manager with 20+ years’ experience. I (Peter) have served as an evangelist and missionary assistant to Ishani. I am a manager at a correctional institution, mentoring troubled young men. I have also worked as a security officer in various roles, including for government and church agencies for 15+ years.
