Purpose
Imagine Thailand exists to build strong communities, with and through local communities and people. We believe in the capacity of youth, university students and skilled professionals to create a new future for communities in need. We do this through leadership development in the university and marketplace, through education and teacher training, through community development initiatives and through building bridges between the local church and local community. Church planting work is being done through international and local believers in the various locations where Imagine Thailand is engaged; making disciples, working with local pastors, as well as small group discipleship.
As a campus worker, your role will have you serving as a member of our campus ministry team. Hosting and running events, tutoring English, meeting up with and doing activities with students, and participating in our student church are some of the activities that you can plan to be engaged in. This part of the country is 0.19% Evangelical Christian, and the need is great for someone to share the impact that Christ has made in their life with university students here who haven’t had the opportunity yet to hear God’s message of hope.
Skills
This opportunity is perfect for someone who loves spending time with people, both in small and large group settings. Those with experience in leading small groups, running activities, and are excited to share their faith in the context of relationships. Ability to be open to building new friendships, flexibility, independence, work well with others and cultural adaptation expected. Learning Thai would be encouraged, however your English ability would be an asset for connecting with students who want to improve their English skills. This opportunity is available for volunteers and those desiring to serve long-term (2-month min for volunteers, up to long-term).
Support
The on-field team consists of internationals, and Thai nationals. You will be in regular contact with the area team for weekly staff meetings. While meeting individually with students is part of the role, many of the other activities are led by multiple people from our team, so you will need to be independent and be able to work well with others. We will provide help setting up accommodations and preparing for cultural adjustment including orientation to the local community and amenities.
Our Mission Global team will walk with you along the way – from application to deployment. Training, administrative support and mission coaching will be provided, along with assistance for promotional and fundraising efforts.
