ESL Program Facilitator

GLOBAL OPPORTUNITY

ESL Program Facilitator

Northeastern Thailand remains largely unreached, with limited Christian presence in rural communities like Nam Som, a regional hub serving thousands of students from surrounding villages. A local church is seeking volunteers for a 3–6 month commitment to lead an after-school ESL program, strengthening existing relationships with schools and the wider community. Ideal candidates bring TESOL or ESL experience, cross-cultural adaptability, initiative, relational skills, and a willingness to step beyond their comfort zone.

Least Reached and Most Vulnerable

Purpose

Away form the tourist traps and big scities, there is minimal Christian presence in Thailand's smaller communities and rural areas. Northeastern Thailand is bordered by Laos and the Mekong River and is a distinct region within Thailand. With its own dialect, cuisine and way of life, this is a part of the country few foreigners experience. The town of Nam Som is a medium-sized community which serves as a hub for this region. Local schools have thousands of students who have come from nearby villages.

A local church is looking to grow their community connections and are looking for a volunteer to commit 3-6 months to run an after-school ESL program from their building. Along with many other school activities, this ESL option would strengthen an existing relationship between the church, schools and community.

Skills

A TESOL or similar ESL teaching experience would be a strong asset along with an ability to serve cross-culturally. Candidates must be self-starters who can operate independently and problem solve. They must believe in developing relationships and building community connections. As well, they need to possess a sense of adventure and willingness to step outside their comfort zone.

Support

Nam Som is far from the path most foreigners take in Thailand. Serving here would necessitate learning to do things the local way. Child Care Plus (CCP) managers based in the church would be your day-to-day support. CCP leaders in Chiang Mai and Bangkok will organize your onboarding and provide regular check-ins.

The Missions Global team will walk with you along the way – from application to deployment. Training, administrative support and mission coaching will be provided along with assistance for promotional and fundraising efforts.
