Business Start-Up
Imagine Thailand empowers communities through leadership, education, and church–community partnerships, while also creating opportunities in small business and micro-finance. In the north, a soy milk project provides nutrition for migrant children and income through local sales. Those with micro-finance or business development skills can train nationals and strengthen initiatives. Volunteers (3+ months) or long-term workers are welcome, with accommodation and cultural orientation provided.
Purpose
Imagine Thailand exists to build strong communities, with and through local communities and people. We believe in the capacity of youth, university students and skilled professionals to create a new future for communities in need. We do this through leadership development in the university and marketplace, through education and teacher training, through community development initiatives and through building bridges between the local church and local community. Small business and micro-finance opportunities exist in several of our 4 locations. In the north, a soy milk project provides nutrition for migrant school children, while also providing income through commercial and residential sales.
Skills
Those with experience in micro-finance or small business development would be able to make a difference - training nationals in sales, marketing and best practices in business. Flexibility, independence and cultural adaptation expected. This opportunity is available for volunteers and those desiring to serve long-term (3-month min for volunteers, up to long-term)
Support
The on-field team consists of internationals, Thai and Burmese nationals. There is a Thai national director in each of the 4 regions. Depending on location, you will be in regular connection with your area team for staff meetings and devotions. We will provide help setting up accommodations and preparing for cultural adjustment with a 1-2 week on-boarding for ministry, including orientation to the local community and amenities.
Our Mission Global team will walk with you along the way – from application to deployment. Training, administrative support and mission coaching will be provided, along with assistance for promotional and fundraising efforts.
